The Network is able to:
- Facilitate and advise on trial development and co-ordinate study teams.
- Conduct membership surveys to assist with trial development.
- Co-ordinate and write applications for funding.
- Set up funded studies: gaining regulatory, ethical and host institution approvals.
- Supervise Trial Managers employed on specific research grants.
- Promote the benefits of collective effort within the Network.
- Encourage and develop the involvement of servise users/consumers.
UK DCTN Pump priming Funds:
We have a small amount of funds available to assist new UK DCTN trials. These are allocated on a case by case basis following formal application to the Network Co-ordinating Centre. Awards provided from 2007 to 2009 were:
- £16,000 given to the PATCH Study to provide dedicated administrative/ nursing support staff to identify patients with cellulitis to increase recruitment rates.
- £10,000 given to the Stop-Gap pilot study towards a trial manager.
- £2,000 to carry out the TREBL Feasibility Study.
