20 Years of the UK DCTN

It is our 20 year anniversary and we are celebrating throughout 2022

In 2002, the idea of an independent national network to instigate and improve dermatology research was formed by Professor Hywel Williams, Professor Kim Thomas and a group of like-minded dermatologists and patient representatives.

We now have over 1,000 members and have supported dozens of clincial trials. 

To mark the occasion we have a number of activities planned to help celebrate this milestone.  This includes two papers recently published (open access) in the Clinical and Experimental Dermatology journal.

• Paper 1 Explores impact and outputs from the UK DCTN
• Paper 2 focuses on education and research capacity building initiatives.
• A series of blogs exploring different personal perspectives of the UK DCTN will be launched later in the year and we’ll be presenting our inaugural UK DCTN Honorary Lifetime Membership Awards at our AGM in July (6 July Glasgow).
• Our 20th anniversary edition annual report on our reports and publications page.

A major part of the success of the Network is the hard work and commitment of our members, so this is a big thank you to all our members who have got involved.  Whether you have been a steering group member, joined a trial development group, recruited patients to a study or simply completed a survey.  The Network is YOU and we thank you whole heartedly.
