Submit a Trial Idea

This section explains the process by which trial ideas are submitted, reviewed and subsequently developed into full proposals.

The Network is open to trial suggestions from anyone. If you not experienced in setting up and running a clinical trial don't worry - the Network can help with all aspects of funding, design and implementation of clinical trials.

Submission Process

If you would like to suggest a trial to the UK DCTN, you will initially need to submit a vignette which will be considered for review by the Steering Group at their next available meeting.  In order to have a meaningful discussion about your suggestion, you will need to attend the Steering Group Meeting at which the vignette is discussed.

Vignette Deadlines for 2008: 31 January, 3 June and 27 September 2008.

If the Steering Group approves the vignette, you will be asked to submit an outline proposal.  In order to achieve a degree of consistency in proposals produced by different groups, it would be appreciated if you could follow the following guidelines when submitting outline proposals.

  1. Use the headings outlined in the outline proposal form - these are based on the MRC headings.

  2. Try to keep your outline proposal to a maximum of four pages.

  3. Include some idea of the timetable of likely events.

  4. Use a header or footer - include version number of proposal and date using the following format – version 0.1_01/02/05.

The outline proposal will be reviewed by the Steering Group at the next available meeting which again you will need to attend.

If the outline proposal is approved by the Steering group, it will then progress to a full proposal.
