Completed Prioritisation exercises:
Eczema Priority Setting Partnership
A priority setting partnership (PSP) was established (including the James Lind Alliance www.lindalliance.org, the UK National Eczema Society http://www.eczema.org and the University of Nottingham) This project involved health professionals, patients and carers to identify the most important areas for future research in treating eczema. At the heart of the exercise is the desire to identify and prioritise the questions that are most important to both patients and clinicians. In the futire it is hoped that the shortlisted topics will be submitted to relevant funding bodies, who will consider the topics for possible prioritisation and funding. This was a successful exercise and the most popular research questions have been shortlisted into a 'Top 14' shown here.

Following publication of a recent Cochrane review of treatments for vitiligo there is little evidence to support the current limited treatments. The Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology, in partnership with the Vitiligo Society and the James Lind Alliance, undertook a prioiritisation exercise to find the most important research questions for vitiligo. They surveyed both patients and clinicians across the UK. This exercise is now complete and the top 10 uncertainties for the treatment of vitiligo have emerged. The results of this process, along with the top 10 questions, are published in the British Journal of Dermatology http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1365-2133.2010.10160.x/abstract and are available on the vitiligo study website. http://www.vitiligostudy.org.uk From this exercise a feasibility study has been launched. The Hi-Light study aims to look at home light therapy for vitiligo. See the newsletter here for more information. |
