Acne study opens to recruitment

SAFA - Spironolactone for adult female acne

Could spironolactone be an alternative acne treatment for adult women?

We have been working with the University of Southampton to develop this study on adult female acne which opened to recruitment earlier this year.  If spironolactone is found to be effective, this study has the potential to help reduce the number of antibiotics prescribed for adult acne.  They aim to recruit 434 participants and have already recruited 63 patients. Co-chief investigators are Dr Miriam Santer and Dr Alison Layton.

Would you like to get involved?  The SAFA team would like to recruit patients from more sites around the UK.  If you are a doctor or research nurse please contact safa@soton.ac.uk  to find out more.
