Her special interests are infections of the skin and vulval disease and her research includes the pathology of the human papillomavirus. Dr Sterling has led multi-disciplinary vulval clinics for over 25 years.

In 2018, Jane received the ‘Clinician of the Year ‘award from the British Association of Dermatologists. The award recognised Dr Sterling’s work in patient care, support of colleagues and training of all grades of staff including medical students.

Dr Sterling remains active in dermatology research today so we very much welcome her role on the UK DCTN Executive Committee.
