Description

*It is important to note that this activity is not just a one-day training course and will require a significant amount of work both pre and post this one day event. Please do not book on this course unless you can commit to this.*

Prior to the event, delegates will be allocated into small working groups looking at one of the five following areas of skin disease:

  1. Eczema
  2. Alopecia
  3. Chronic urticaria
  4. Skin surgery
  5. Non-melanoma skin cancer

Each group will be assigned two mentors to assist them in developing an idea for a dermatology clinical trial. This will include formulating a research question from current evidence such as Priority Setting Partnerships, Cochrane systematic reviews and published studies.

Before the course you will be expected to work together as a group (via teleconferences and e-mail) to develop this idea for presentation and discussion on the day. It is hoped that a number of groups will continue with their study idea and go on to submit this for development through the UK DCTN.

Output from previous Trainee Groups has included the publication of Critically Appraised Topics in the BJD, poster and oral abstracts at the BAD Annual Meeting and obtaining pilot funding from the UK DCTN to develop study ideas further.
